Mark Rattenbury
Met this amazing man on the train, who was, brilliantly, called Davy Jones. Worthy of his name so he was. I'm always going to remember him because he said 'Good morning' when I sat down on the seat next to him. No-one does that, do they? We got talking, I told him about SiB, and he bought up his frind Mark Rattenbury, who he said was photographing similar subject matter in North Devon. After searching on-line I found this book - interesting. Worth trying to meet up with Mark when we're exploring his neck of the woods. A lovely town called Roadwater, on the North edge of Exmoor National Park would be a good place to start.

The 1970s vintage OS project map I have up in my office with all of the little flag pins marking potential research sites has a wide flag-less swathe up between Dartmoor and Exmoor. No phone calls from locals suggesting shops, no emails or tips from friends. It may require a more concerted effort, and Roadwater sounds as good a place to start as any.
